Zaid was raised by an art-loving father who adored Arabic literature and poetry, in particular the poems of Ahmed Shawqi. The library of Zaid's father was on the rooftop of his home and became the foundation to his sons' knowledge. In addition to his strong business portfolio, Zaid also amassed a vast knowledge of business experience through his travels around the world.
In 1935, he launched a small foodstuff business, which expanded exponentially over time to become one of the most successful trading organizations in Kuwait.
Not only a key figure in the business world, Zaid was also a prominent politician; joining the parliament through the gateway of Abdullah AlSalem Hall. He was a pioneer of the golden age which enriched the history of Kuwait.
To this day, Zaid's legacy still stands strong in Kuwait. His companies now employ more than 500 people across a wide range of activities & industries including automotive sale & service, marine equipment, power generators, insurance, travel, real estate, plastic industry, medicine, watches, and jewelry.
His company represents a leading and reputable trademark, Mercedes-Benz, having been the exclusive agent in Kuwait since 1959. The company set up a network of sales showrooms, and service and spare parts facilities required across Kuwait to provide top quality customer care for Mercedes Benz owners.
One of the most memorable events for academics concerned with the history of the Kuwait National Assembly was the success of Zaid and his wo younger brothers: Abdullatif & Abdul Muttalib, the latter who assumed the office of Oil Minister in the 1967. In addition, Abdullatif and Abdul Mutallib both won the election in 1971 as representatives of Dasmah seventh electorate.
Abdul Muttalib Abdul-Hussein AlKazemi
Abdul Muttalib Abdul-Hussein AlKazemi, much like Abdullatif, was born to succeed. Initiated through his early academic achievements, after graduating high school in 1956 he moved to Egypt to pursue a degree at Cairo University before returning to assume a position with the Ministry of Finance as the Head of the General Budget.
Working many extra hours to ensure he reached his goals, Abdul Muttalib realized that the developing nation needed its youth to be educated and spent much of his own time developing his staff.
His natural fluency for numbers allowed him to earn economic resources and actively participate as a member of the Arab Oil Co. Board and the Kuwait Municipality Expropriation Committee.
Although he already had a lot of responsibility, he also represented Kuwait at the Arab League.
His position with the Ministry of Finance, at the time when it controlled oil production, gave Abdul Muttalib the chance to join a Kuwait delegation to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, to review the founding of OPEC and understand the details of the oil world and its concerns.
Abdul Muttalib took a short hiatus to study administration at Bolder University, Colorado and returned home in 1969 with even bigger dreams. In 1975, he ran for the National Assembly and took up office as the Oil Minister.
In 1978, the Oil Minister left office at the Ministry to dedicate time to his own business, although he naturally continued to care for the concerns of his nation and its future aspirations. So when he was in London in 1990 and heard of the Iraq invasion of his homeland, Abdul Muttalib couldn't let his distance from his birthplace stop him from rallying everyone together to assist the restoration of Kuwait's liberation, a sense of patriotism Abdul Muttalib never lost.
